Strengthen your digital network with your customers during COVID-19
In these uncertain times, it's more important than ever to stay in touch with your customers. Due to COVD-19, face-to-face meetings are no longer safe without social distancing and wearing PPE, and even with these precautions, many customers don't feel comfortable meeting in person. Take this opportunity to look at alternative ways to connect with your customers safely. If you haven't built a strong digital network to communicate with your customers, now is a great time to review the following tips to help you keep in touch with existing customers and reach new ones.
Here are some excellent tips for raising your digital presence.
Increase your social media presence
Your customers are already on social media and are likely checking in much more frequently. This is a great place to share what you are doing to follow safety protocols while continuing to work on projects. It can be helpful to increase your posting frequency to ensure you are showing up in their news feeds. If you aren't on Instagram, this is the perfect platform to show photos of completed projects you are proud of to gain the attention of new customers.
Start following influencers – Search for Instagram users in the building industry and start following them. This could include well-known contractors or vendors that supply products you use in your work that you trust or just other contractors that inspire you. The advantage to following influencers is that you can share relevant content easily on your profile/page, and by adding a couple of your comments to the post, you have easily generated content to engage with your followers.
If you have some downtime, now is an excellent time to update your Facebook page, Instagram, and website.
Take advantage of virtual meetings
You can still have meetings with your clients virtually. Use video conferencing apps, like Zoom or GoToMeeting, to see your clients. You can also share your computer screen with your reno plans or other projects to make sure you and your client are on the same page.
Send a message
There are many other ways to stay connected. You can use Facebook Messenger to message your customers instantly. Other social media platforms like Instagram have message features too. Or you can send an email or text, and if you want to connect old school, a phone call works too!
Keep in mind that the impact of the actions you take today will outlast the pandemic, and customers will remember how you made them feel. The messages you put out in the marketplace must be genuine and meet the needs of your customers. By doing this, you will build trust with your customers for now and long into the future.
